How to Make Custom Embeds on Discord Without Code
Learn how to create good looking Discord embeds and modern containers with a live preview, then send them to a channel or through a webhook with your own name and avatar.

Plain text announcements get scrolled past. A clean embed, with a coloured bar, a title, neat sections and an image, looks professional and actually gets read. The problem is that Discord does not let normal users send embeds, and most embed generators make you copy JSON around.
This guide shows how to design embeds and modern Discord containers right inside Discord with the Ethvex Builder, with a live preview and no code. It is completely free.
Embeds vs containers #
| Embed | Container | |
|---|---|---|
| Looks like | The classic card with a coloured side bar | Discord's newer, more flexible message layout |
| Made of | Author, title, description, fields, images, footer | Stacked blocks: text, dividers, sections, buttons, image galleries |
| Best for | Rules, info posts, simple announcements | Showcases, link hubs, modern looking panels |
| Buttons | No | Yes, link buttons |
The Builder does both. Switch between Embed Mode and CV2 Mode at any time, and each keeps its own draft.
Building an embed #
Open the Builder
Run /builder. It opens privately, so only you see your draft while you work. You need the Manage Messages permission.
Set the basics
Press Edit to add a title, an optional title link, the description and the colour as a hex code like #8b5cf6.
Add an author and footer
Use Author for the small line at the top, and Footer for the line at the bottom. Both can have a small icon. Turn on Timestamp to show the time.
Add images
Images lets you set a small thumbnail at the top right and a large image at the bottom.
Add fields
Fields are titled mini sections. Add up to 25, show them side by side (inline) or full width, and reorder them any time.
Preview it
Press Preview Embed to see exactly how it will look when sent.
Use one accent colour that matches your server, keep the description to a few short lines, and use fields for things people scan, like dates, rewards or requirements.
Building a container #
Switch to CV2 Mode and stack blocks one after another. The preview at the top is your real container.
- + Text for any amount of markdown text: headings, bold, lists, links and emojis.
- + Separator for a visible divider line or just some spacing.
- + Section for text with a link button or a small image next to it.
- + Row for up to 5 link buttons, written as
Label | URL. - + Images for a gallery of up to 5 images, written as
URL | description.
Set the side colour with Color, and use Remove Last to undo a block.
Sending it #
To a channel
Press Send, then Send to Channel, and pick a text channel. Ethvex posts it straight away. Use Build Another to keep your draft and make a new version.
Through a webhook (with your own name and avatar)
Want the message to look like it came from your brand instead of a bot? Use a webhook:
Create a webhook
Open the channel settings, go to Integrations → Webhooks, create one and give it the name and avatar you want.
Copy its URL
Press Copy Webhook URL.
Send
In the Builder, press Send → Send to Webhook and paste the URL. The Builder remembers it for next time.
Treat webhook URLs like passwords. Anyone who has one can post in that channel.
Ideas for what to build #
- A rules post with a field for each rule and your server banner as the large image.
- An event announcement with the date, time and prize as inline fields and a role ping in the text above.
- A links hub container with a row of buttons to your website, socials and store.
- A season or patch notes post with sections, dividers and an image gallery of screenshots.
- A welcome info card for your start here channel explaining where everything is.
Wrapping up #
Good looking messages make a server feel cared for. With a live preview, containers and webhook sending, you can make announcements that look professionally designed in a couple of minutes. Every option is listed in the Builder docs.
Frequently asked questions
Can normal Discord users send embeds?
Not directly. Embeds are sent by bots and webhooks. A builder like the Ethvex Builder lets you design one and have the bot or a webhook post it for you.
Is the Ethvex Builder free?
Yes. Every part of the Builder, including containers and webhook sending, is free on every server.
How many fields can an embed have?
Up to 25 fields, and the whole embed can be up to 6,000 characters. The Builder warns you before you go over the limit.
Can I add buttons to my message?
Yes, in CV2 Mode. You can add rows of up to 5 link buttons, or a section with a link button next to your text.

Try it on your own server
Ethvex is free to add and every system is set up through simple panels. No code needed.
