How to Give Everyone a Role on Discord (or Remove It)
Add or remove a role for every member of your Discord server in one go, with filters for bots, join date and account age. Free for servers up to 1,000 members.
You just created a new Member role, a colour role, or a role that unlocks a new channel, and now you want everyone to have it. Discord has no button for that. Doing it one member at a time works for ten people, not for hundreds.
This guide shows how to add or remove a role for every member at once with Ethvex Role All, including filters so you only touch the right people.
Role All is free for servers with 1,000 members or less. Larger servers can use it with Ethvex Pro.
Before you start #
Go to Server Settings → Roles and make sure the Ethvex role sits above the role you want to give out. Discord does not let a bot hand out a role higher than its own. You also need the Manage Roles permission.
Give everyone a role in 5 steps #
Open the panel
Run /roleall (or %ra). A panel opens that only you can use.
Choose Add Role
Pick Add Role, then choose the role from the dropdown.
Add filters if you need them
By default, bots are skipped. You can narrow it further with the filters below.
Preview
Press Preview Members to see exactly how many members will get the role and roughly how long it will take.
Start
Press Start Operation. Ethvex works through every member in the background and posts a live progress bar in the channel.
Remove a role from everyone #
Same steps, but choose Remove Role instead. Handy after an event, when a temporary role like Event Access should come off everyone at once.
Target exactly the right members #

While it runs #
- The progress message updates every few seconds with a progress bar, how many members are done and an estimated time left.
- It counts roles applied, members skipped because they already had the role, and any errors.
- You can press Cancel Operation at any time.
- If Ethvex restarts in the middle, the operation picks up where it left off.
Press View History in the panel to see your last 5 operations and how they went.
Ideas for using it #
- Give every existing member a new Member or Community role after a server revamp.
- Give everyone who joined before a certain date an OG or Early Supporter role.
- Remove an Event role from everyone once the event is over.
- Give all bots a Bots role so they sit together in the member list.
For members who join later, set up auto roles so new people get the role automatically, and Role All only has to run once.
