How to Get YouTube and Twitch Notifications in Discord
Post in your Discord server when a YouTube channel uploads or a Twitch streamer goes live. Instant YouTube and Twitch alerts, a Shorts filter and role pings, free for one channel on each.

Your members want to know the moment a new video drops or a stream starts. Posting the link yourself every time is easy to forget. A notification bot does it for you, the same way every time.
This guide sets up YouTube and Twitch alerts with Ethvex Social Notifier. Free servers can follow 1 YouTube channel and 1 Twitch streamer, and Pro raises that to 5 of each.
YouTube upload notifications #
Open the panel
Run /social (or %social). The YouTube tab opens first.
Add the channel
Press Add Channel and paste a channel ID, an @handle or a YouTube link.
Choose where to post
Press Set Channel & Ping and pick the Discord channel, plus a role to ping, like @Notifications.
YouTube tells Ethvex about a new upload the moment it goes public, so the notification usually arrives within seconds.
Only want long videos? Use the Shorts filter
Channels that post lots of Shorts can flood your notifications. Every YouTube channel has a Shorts toggle. Leave it on to announce every upload, or turn it off to skip Shorts and only announce full length videos.
Twitch live notifications #
Connect the streamer
Open the Twitch tab and press Connect Streamer. Ethvex gives you an authorization link.
Streamer approves
The streamer opens the link and approves it on Twitch. Until then the panel shows Pending.
Choose where to post
Pick the Discord channel and an optional ping role.
Twitch alerts are real time. Twitch tells Ethvex the moment the stream starts, and while it is live the notification keeps updating with the title, game and viewer count. Turn on Notify on End to post when the stream finishes too.
Make the notification yours #
| Option | What it does |
|---|---|
| Format | A modern container or a classic embed. |
| Header and title | Your own text with variables like {title}, {channel} or {streamer}. |
| Colour and button | Any accent colour and your own button label, like Watch Now. |
| Test Preview | See exactly how it will look before anything is posted. |
Tips #
- Use an opt in ping role. Let members pick @Notifications with reaction roles, so only people who want the ping get it.
- Give alerts their own channel. A dedicated #videos or #live channel keeps your chat clean.
- Pause instead of deleting. Switch a channel's notifications off for a while without losing its settings.
Wrapping up #
Set it up once and every upload and stream gets announced on its own. Every option and variable is in the Social Notifier docs.
