Cooldown
A counter is a channel whose name shows a number, like Members: 1,250. Ethvex keeps the number up to date on its own, so everyone can see your server's stats at the top of the channel list.
Free and Pro #
5 counters, 3 goals and 2 social counters
Up to 25 counters, 25 goals and 25 social counters
The panel #
| Tab | What it is for |
|---|---|
| Counters | Live numbers from your server, like members, boosts or open tickets. |
| Social | A YouTube subscriber count or a Twitch follower count. |
| Goals | A number to count towards, with a progress bar in the panel. |
| Settings | How often your channels update. |
Add a counter #
Open the panel
Run /counters and press Add Counter.
Pick what to count
Choose a category, then the counter type.
Name the channel
Write the channel name and put {count} where the number goes, like Members: {count}.
Choose the style
Pick the channel type and the number format, then submit. Ethvex creates the channel straight away.
New counter channels are created outside any category. Drag them into a category of your own, like Server Stats, to keep them together.
What you can count #
| Category | Counter types |
|---|---|
| Members | Members & Bots, Members Only, Bots Only, Banned Members, In Voice, Boosters |
| Channels & Roles | All Channels, Text Channels, Voice Channels, Categories, Announcements, Stage Channels, Forum Channels, Active Threads, Roles |
| Boosts | Total Boosts, Boost Tier |
| Emojis & Stickers | Total Emojis, Static Emojis, Animated Emojis, Stickers |
| Tickets | Open Tickets, Total Tickets |
| Activity | Invite Links, Scheduled Events |
Banned Members needs Ethvex to have Ban Members, and Invite Links needs Manage Server. Without them, these counters show 0.
Channel type and number format #
| Channel type | What it does |
|---|---|
| Voice Channel | The default and the best choice. Members can see it but cannot join, and the name keeps its capitals and spaces. |
| Text Channel | A regular text channel. Discord writes text channel names in lowercase with dashes instead of spaces. |
| Announcement Channel | An announcement channel, with the same naming rules as a text channel. Your server needs Community turned on. |
| Number format | Example |
|---|---|
| Comma | 1,250 |
| Short | 1.3K |
| Plain | 1250 |
Social counters #
Open the Social tab
Press Add Social and choose YouTube or Twitch.
Enter the account
For YouTube use an @handle or a channel ID. For Twitch use the username.
Name the channel
Put {count} where the number goes, like YT Subs: {count}, then pick the channel type and number format.
These numbers come from YouTube and Twitch. YouTube only shares rounded subscriber counts, so a large channel may not show the exact number. If the account can't be found, the channel is still created and shows 0 until a count comes through, so double check the spelling.
Goals #
A goal tracks any counter type towards a target, like reaching 1,000 members. The panel shows a progress bar and how close you are.
Pick what to track
Open the Goals tab, press Create Goal and choose a counter type.
Set the target
Enter the number you are aiming for.
Name the channel
Use {count} for the current number and {target} for the goal, like Goal: {count}/{target}.
Add a finish line
Optionally set a different name to show once the goal is reached, like Goal Reached!.
If the number drops below the target again, the channel goes back to its normal name.
How often it updates #
Counters and goals update every 10 minutes by default, and social counters every 30 minutes. Ethvex checks for channels due an update every 5 minutes, so a change can take a few minutes longer to appear.
- Refresh interval: in the Settings tab, choose 10 minutes, 30 minutes, 1 hour, 6 hours or 1 day. It applies to every counter, goal and social counter you have right now, and channels you add later start on their default.
- Refresh Now: updates a tab straight away. Each tab can be refreshed once every 10 minutes.
- Discord limit: Discord only allows a channel to be renamed about twice every 10 minutes, so faster updates are not possible.
Good to know #
- Press Remove in the panel to remove a counter. This deletes its channel too.
- If you delete a counter channel by hand, it still takes up a slot until you press Remove in the panel.
- If a Pro subscription ends, your existing channels stay. You can't add more until you are back under the free limits.
