Ethvex AutoMod watches every message in your server and acts on rule breakers for you. It runs on Ethvex itself, separate from Discord's built in AutoMod, so you get more modules and smarter punishments that get stricter each time someone breaks the same rule.

Free for everyone

AutoMod is completely free. Only two modules, File Filter and Account Age, need Pro.

Free and Pro #

Free

7 modules: words, spam, links, invites, mentions, caps and raids

Pro

Adds File Filter and Account Age

Getting started #

Open the panel

Run /automod. The panel shows whether AutoMod is on, your log channel and which modules are active.

Set a log channel

Press Set Log Channel and pick a staff channel. Every action AutoMod takes is posted there.

Turn on modules

Pick a module from the Configure a module dropdown, adjust its settings and press Enable Module.

Enable the system

Press Enable System. Nothing is checked until the system itself is on. Press Pause System any time to stop everything without losing your settings.

Prefix panels

With the prefix version, the panel is posted in the channel, but only the person who ran the command can press its buttons. Anyone else gets a private note telling them to run the command themselves. Prefix panels close after 5 minutes without use.

Who AutoMod ignores #

  • Bots, including Ethvex.
  • Anyone with Manage Server. Your admins are never caught by AutoMod.
  • Exempt roles and channels. Press Global Exemptions to choose up to 10 roles and up to 10 channels that AutoMod skips completely, like a staff chat or a memes channel.

The modules #

Each module has its own settings, its own on or off switch and its own punishment steps. Open one from the dropdown and press Edit Settings to change it.

ModuleWhat it catchesSettings (defaults)
Word FilterMessages containing any word or phrase on your list. It also matches inside longer words and ignores capital letters.Your blocked words, one per line.
Spam GuardSomeone sending lots of messages very quickly. How many messages (5) within how many seconds (5).
Link FilterAny link to a website that is not on your allowed list. Subdomains of an allowed site are allowed too, so youtube.com also allows www.youtube.com.Allowed domains, one per line. Leave it empty to block every link.
Anti-InviteDiscord server invite links, like discord.gg/... and discord.com/invite/....None needed.
Mention SpamMessages that mention too many people or roles at once.Max user mentions (5) and max role mentions (2) per message.
Caps FilterMessages written mostly in capital letters. Short messages are skipped so a quick "OK" is fine.Caps percentage (70%) and the minimum number of letters before it checks (10).
Raid ProtectionA large wave of people joining in a short time. How many joins (15) within how many seconds (60).
File Filter (Pro)Attachments with dangerous file types.Blocked extensions, separated by commas. Default: exe, bat, cmd, sh, ps1, vbs, scr.
Account Age (Pro)Brand new Discord accounts joining your server, a common sign of alts and raiders.Minimum account age in days (7).

If a single message breaks more than one rule, AutoMod acts on the first module it matches, so one message never gets punished twice.

Punishment steps #

This is what makes Ethvex AutoMod smart. Instead of one fixed punishment, each module has a list of steps. The first time someone breaks that module's rule they get step 1, the second time step 2, and so on. Once they reach the last step, it repeats for every further violation.

ActionWhat happens
Delete MessageJust removes the message.
Warn UserPosts a warning that mentions the user in the channel. It deletes itself after 15 seconds.
TimeoutMutes the user for a set time, like 30m, 6h or 1d (up to 28 days), and posts a short notice.
KickRemoves the user from the server.
BanBans the user and clears their messages from the last 24 hours.
Remove RoleTakes away up to 10 roles you choose, like a verified or chat access role.

The message that broke the rule is always deleted, whatever the step is.

Use the Add step dropdown to add an action to the end of the list, Remove Last Step to undo the last one, or Clear All Steps to start over. A new module starts with a single Delete Message step.

Example

A Spam Guard with these steps:

  • Step 1: Warn User
  • Step 2: Timeout 10m
  • Step 3: Timeout 1h
  • Step 4: Kick

The first spam gets a warning, the second a 10 minute timeout, the third an hour, and from the fourth time onwards the user is kicked.

Violation reset

Each module counts violations per user. If a user stays clean for the number of days set in Violation reset (7 by default), their count goes back to zero and they start from step 1 again. You can change the number of days in each module's settings.

Account Age in detail #

Account Age checks people when they join, not when they chat. If their Discord account is younger than your minimum, Ethvex uses the module's first step, so set it to Kick, Ban or Timeout. Before acting, Ethvex DMs the user to explain why, with their account age and your requirement.

Abuse Guard #

Abuse Guard watches your moderators instead of your members. If a moderator suddenly bans, kicks or times out lots of people in a short time, for example from a compromised account, Ethvex sends an alert to a channel of your choice.

ThresholdDefault
Ban wave5 bans in 60 seconds
Kick wave5 kicks in 60 seconds
Timeout wave8 timeouts in 60 seconds

Press Edit next to any threshold to change it, pick an Alert Channel, then press Enable Abuse Guard. Administrators are never flagged.

The log #

Every AutoMod action is posted in your log channel with the user, the module, the action taken, which violation number it was and the channel it happened in. The message content itself is not reposted.

Make sure the Ethvex role is above the roles of the people it needs to act on. Discord does not let a bot time out, kick or ban someone with a higher role.
